Mal walked from one end of his ship to the other. The sounds she emitted were like music to him. Kaylee in the Engine room, fiddlin with who knew what. Jayne liftin weights in the hold. Zoe and Wash were in the mess, making googly eyes at one another.. honestly made him wanna puke, but hey, he supposed that was what married folk did with one another.
In the infirmary, the Doc was busy restocking supplies that they'd just bought, ready to take on any kind of injury or malady that might hapen to befall them. Shepherd Book was spotting Jayne, which in itself wasn't quite right but still a regular sight around the ship. Inara was in her shuttle, takin on new clients most likely. The only member of his crew he couldn't find was River.
He traversed the ship looking for the girl, not expecting to find her where he did. There she was too, by god. On the bridge, looking out the big front windows of Serenity into space.
"Its big out there." she said to Mal before he could even ask her what she was doing. "Big, but not empty. It's... space."
"That it is, little one. That it is." Mal replied.
A captain's goal is simple: find crew, find a job... keep flying.
